With Dale’s secret way to do corn on the cob there is no mess… just delicious corn that squirts out juice when you bite into it!

Today, while I was giving out samples of Perky’s Gluten Free products at Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market, I learned a new thing!  Dale, a fellow I used to work with at The Fresh Market, who now works at Bedner’s, taught me this wonderful new way of making corn.  Now, I am not a microwave sort of gal.  Granted I do use the microwave for a few things but as a general rule of thumb I do not like the final results of microwaved food.  I remember when the microwave first came out, they were supposed to revolutionize the way cooking & baking were done for the average household cook.  The time spent in the kitchen and the cooking & baking times were supposed to be a worry of the past.  After all the microwave was supposed to make everything instantly… And now.. hmmm … I found the hoop da la over the microwave a bunch of crap:)  But… Dale changed my mind.  They say a change starts with one small thing.  Dale showed me the small thing.  Now, I may have to rethink the microwave’s usefulness.  LOL:)

So here it is…. Dale’s Gluten Free Corn Secret, Super Simple Way to Make Corn on the Cob

1.First you keep the husk on the corn.  Cut the corn about an inch and half or two inches above the stalk end, that is the opposite end of where the silk is  sticking out at the top of the corn.

2.Then you place the corn (discard the little corn end) in the microwave, just like this, do not wrap it or put anything on it, just place directly on the microwave glass plate.

3.Then set the microwave for three (3) minutes on high for each piece of corn, with two being the maximum pieces that Dale recommended doing at one time.  Another words, if you place two pieces of corn in the microwave you set the microwave for six (6) minutes on high.

4.Then when the time is done (3 minutes on high for one piece, 6 minutes on high for two pieces) carefully, place the corn while it is still in its husk in foil.  The corn is very hot!

5.Your corn will stay warm for at least an hour, mine stayed warm for two hours.  This is a great way to make corn for a party. Very quick and it is a great thing to have someone do that is just itching to help in the kitchen, but you know they have no kitchen skills.  Keep your corn in the foil until you are ready to use it.

6.Then when you are ready to eat your corn.  Just peel back the husk at the open end (not the end where the silk is sticking out- the opposite of what you are used to doing:)  The husk and the silk will come off very easily.  It really amazed me!  No mess at all! Not one pot, not one piece of silk on the floor or clogging up my sink!
